Let me explain something... When you buy a motor kit from anyone other than PEDALCHOPPER.COM for your OCC / Stingray project.... Right off the bat - you do not have the proper Motor Mounts, XL chain, proper size drive gear, useable exhaust, etc, etc.
MY KITS COST MORE YES – However, you get much more! and MINE are actually worth more than I am charging for them... I use only the best off-the-shelf Grubee GT5A motor. I remove the stock head and - if the stock head is being used - I flip it so the plug is facing forward, or I install the Upgraded Head. I always reinstall all four cylinder studs into block using locktite, replace the head gasket then, torque to 15 ft lbs with new lock washers. I only use Abreo / SHA [dellorto clone carb/w fuel adjustment screw] this carburator is 10 times better than a standard "kit" carb. In order for an SHA carb. to fit into Stingray frame - I install a (straight) billet manifold on every motor I sell. Although the Abreo carburetor I use is great! I still have to do various things to it to make sure it is right: I have to replace the cheap mounting bolt, install proper jet size, install throttle cable, stretch cable then final adjustments on cable to make sure the spring loaded choke is working. I USE A STEEL THROTTLE HOUSING - plastic kit throttles do not last long! I pre-wire engine with SEPARATE [toggle] kill switch - all wire CONNECTIONS are [soldered] and shrink wrapped - magneto sealed.
Additionally - I telephone everyone who orders a motor kit from me - to find out what handlebars will be used as I trim all cables tightly/neatly for your particular bike - no cables sticking out a mile in front of bike.... EVERY KIT includes 2 into 1 brake lever and matching clutch lever installed and professionally adjusted clutch. I MOCK-UP all engines on a stingray frame here. I only use my stingray specific billet motor mounts. I attach the motor mount to the motor using 12.9 hardened metric bolts [p.s. the billet 2 piece motor mount was invented/ designed by me/PedalChopper] Chain is pre-cut to length based on rear drive gear usually a 38 or 40 TOOTH [kit 44 tooth gears way to big for stingray]. I strongly recommend a 3 point hub adaptor [instead of rag joint] for rear gear mounting - I try to always keep proper size hub adaptors for stingray in stock.
My pipes are fabricated to clear the pedal as it rotates around and motor mount designed for perfect position/clearance of motor - so pedal does not hit motor either... ALSO PIPE IS LONG ENOUGH TO FUNNEL EXHAUST PAST REAR WHEEL.
I HAVE SOLD SEVERAL HUNDRED GRUBEE MOTOR KITS - NOT ONE SINGLE RETURN! I know of Grubee motors that were still running with over 20,000 miles of daily use....
I do have any number of performance upgrades , port/ polish, the best of Hi-comp heads and ignitions... and now I have ability to install balanced cranks for a price. I AM NOT INTO RACING - but my kits are fast / smooth / reliable.
